Greenville Chorale Young Artist

To encourage young and talented singers in the choral art, the Greenville Chorale is sponsoring this project as a community outreach effort.

The Purposes of the Chorale Young Artist Program are

1. to encourage young singers with outstanding ability and with an interest to pursue the choral art and to experience singing with adult voices in performances of great choral-orchestral music and
2. to enhance the choral leadership of these young singers in their ongoing high school choral activities.

There is no financial obligation on the part of the high school singers selected as Chorale Young Artists. Printed music is provided for free. There are a limited number of Chorale Young Artist positions available.

Chorale Young Artists will be expected to attend all Chorale rehearsals (Monday evenings, 7:30-9:30 PM, Harper Hall, Furman University). They will be expected to practice on their own time those portions of the music they find difficult to learn.

No more than two rehearsal absences (for any reason) are allowed to sing the concert.

A veteran member of the Chorale will be assigned to each Chorale Young Artist to serve as a mentor to assist each young singer.

A letter of recommendation from the student’s choral or voice teacher must accompany the application.

Potential Chorale Young Artists should fill out the online application and attach the recommendation letter.

The deadline for all application materials to be considered is one week before the audition.

Auditions are scheduled for a Sunday afternoon, in January and August, at Furman University.
