Mrs. Smith is completing her sixteenth year as Chorale and Herring Ensemble accompanist. She is a graduate of Furman University (B. Music) and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.C.M.). She was a member of the music faculty at The South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities in Greenville for 17 years where she taught AP music theory, aural skills, class piano, and served as vocal coach/accompanist. For 9 years, Mrs. Smith was part-time lecturer at Furman University where she taught piano and music theory.
She has served as accompanist for numerous organizations, including the Furman Singers, the Southern Seminary Choir, the Community Choruses of Kannapolis, North Carolina and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, the Chorale of the Greater Anderson Musical Arts Consortium and is currently in her 12th year as Accompanist for The Greenville Chorale and the Herring Chamber Ensemble.. She has also served as accompanist for the Greenville Singing Christmas Tree, the South Carolina Baptist All- State Chorus, and the South Carolina All-State Chorus.
Mrs. Smith is active as a church musician and organist, having served several churches in Kentucky and in South Carolina. She recently retired as organist for the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Greenville, having served there for 20 years, and she is a composer of church music with 3 books of hymn arrangements.
